Inside the : Diagrams

This diagram depicts the natural progression of self-actualization (Maslow's Hierarchy) It is important to understand that most individuals in these broken communities have an understated hard time moving past the first (and most essential) stages of self-actualization. This reality limits the potential of the individuals born into this context, with no perceived control of the direction of their lives. This institution aims to set a new path to journey on.

This diagram shows my research on the different values that those on the path to self-actualization tend to seek on the way (consciously or subconsciously). By illustrating the values that the citizens of Camden currently identify with, and the ones they ultimately seek to own, it allows the design to speak to where they 'are' and where they want to 'be'.

This diagram depicts my thoughts on the impact a single individual could have on the struggling community of Camden. Once the institution has helped the individual to achieve significant progress on the never-ending journey towards self-actualization, that individual will possess the qualities and knowledge to positively influence those around them, and subsequently their given communities (in this case Camden, NJ).

This diagram shows why the Camden Waterfront is seemingly the perfect location to begin rebuilding the community. The maps illustrates where the majority of murders in Camden take place (specifically, the youth). The highlighted area is where Rutgers University Campus is located providing a glimpse of hope for the community and a safe haven for individuals that seek to better themselves and their community.
